A note on 2018 from our CEO...

January 1st, 2018 will usher in a new era for marijuana in California. It’s been a long road to get to a legal recreational market that started over 20 years ago with the passage of medical cannabis. Many sacrifices have been made by brave entrepreneurs who were willing to go far beyond the traditional risk of starting a business with a mainstream and accepted product or service. With the tremendous barriers, California pot pioneers overcame, comes great responsibility — responsibility to uphold the compliance standards of the state, quality assurance to the patients and new consumers and ultimately respect for the farmers, collectives, dispensaries and everyone in between that helped get us to this point.

There are many opportunities on the horizon but there are also real challenges. Let’s dive into a couple and how Pasaverde Labs is finding solutions and helping our partners pursue new revenue-generating initiatives.

CHALLENGE ~ Pesticides: A significant percentage of cannabis in California contains various pesticides, most commonly, myclobutanil. This reality presents a huge challenge to brands trying to find clean material as California is adopting strict rules on levels allowed. This issue has become a top priority for us and we are developing scalable solutions to remediate tainted material for our partners. This will ensure our clients keep a steady stream of offering new products in the marketplace without disruption or scrambling to find new growers, which can be a complex and tedious process of verifying the material they are buying is clean.

OPPORTUNITY ~ Premium Distillate: It goes without saying that clean cannabis oil for vapes is one of the fastest growing product categories in medical and recreational states. But an even faster growing trend is the demand for clear distillate, which has on average a 90%+ potency and a more clear look than traditional vape oil, (which has on average a 70% potency). To meet this new demand and based on the overwhelming response from our brand partners we’ve invested in distillate short path technology and brought this feature online. Our clients now have access to clean, clear and beautiful distillate, yes we think it’s a beautiful thing! We’re in the business of making art!

Well here’s to 2017 and to meeting the challenges and capitalizing on the vast opportunities of 2018! We’ll be writing a lot more about this in the coming weeks.
